Introduction 

Destiny House Children’s Ministries is the joint ministry of City Central Church Albury, New South Wales, Australia and Grace Community Church, Mtubatuba, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. It is a ministry birthed out of the heart of God and transplanted first into the hearts of Roger and Sue Smedley and subsequently into the hearts of the leadership of these two churches. 

The words of God to Moses echo down through the ages and are as applicable today as when Moses stood before the burning bush. 

      “I have surely seen the oppression of My people….

      and have heard their cry…

      for I know their sorrow..” (Exodus 3:7) 

God sees, He hears and He knows the plight of each child currently caught in a situation not of their creation nor choosing. God further spoke to Moses and said He (God) would deliver them to the land flowing with milk and honey but that He was in fact sending Moses to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt. Moses’ response was somewhat understandable, “Who am I?” We too could say a similar thing today, “Who are we to undertake the seemingly impossible task before us?” 

During the years of preparation, at those times of frustration when nothing is easy and in the times of doubt we are reminded of God’s response to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” We at Destiny House Children’s Ministries unashamedly proclaim that God has sent us, He is with us and we go forward only at His direction. 

The primary purpose of Destiny House is to care for orphaned or abandoned children in an atmosphere of God’s love, so that these children can grow to become the people of destiny that God intended them to be. This care extends to their physical, emotional and spiritual needs. 

An old Chinese proverb states the following: 

If your vision is for a year – plant wheat.

If your vision is for a decade – plant trees.

If your vision is for a lifetime – plant people. 

Destiny House Children’s Ministries is committed to the long term care of these children. We make no apology for being a Christian organization and will therefore endeavour to mirror the love of God to the children in such a way that Jesus becomes their personal saviour and friend.
